NXT Move Moving & Storage Box Truck Wrap Case Study

How CRD Wraps Branded a 26-Foot Box Truck With Only Two Installation Days

A brand-new commercial truck should start representing the business as soon as possible — not sit at a wrap shop waiting on design, production and installation. So CRD Wraps did the work that didn’t need the truck before asking for the truck.

Box Truck Wrap Project Facts

The Short Version

Who completed the wrap?

CRD Wraps, in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, serving Palm Beach County.

Who was the client?

NXT Move Moving & Storage, a residential and commercial moving company.

What was the vehicle?

A brand-new 26-foot box truck, delivered white and unbranded.

Who designed the graphics?

NXT Move supplied vector brand assets and a brand guide. CRD Wraps recreated and adapted that existing identity around the real dimensions of the box.

How long did installation take?

Approximately two days with three installers, after the graphics were already printed, laminated and pre-paneled.

Did the truck fit inside the shop?

No. It could not make the turn into the bay, and it was roughly six feet too long for the indoor space, so the installation was staged outside with mobile scaffolding.

What material was used?

Avery Dennison MPI 1105 premium cast vehicle wrap film with DOL 1360Z gloss optically clear overlaminate.

The Business Problem

A New Commercial Vehicle Isn’t Finished Until the Brand Is On It

For NXT Move, this wasn’t a truck being pulled out of an established fleet for a redesign. It was a new business asset waiting to be put to work.

A blank 26-foot moving truck hauls exactly the same cargo as a wrapped one. But every day it operates without branding is a day that a very large commercial vehicle travels through neighborhoods, business districts and job sites without telling anyone who owns it. For a moving company, the truck itself is one of the largest advertising surfaces the business owns.

The brand already existed. The owner had vector artwork and a brand guide ready to go. After being dissatisfied with the service he had received from a previous provider, what he needed was a wrap company that could execute — one capable of taking that brand, fitting it correctly to a very large vehicle, producing it efficiently and scheduling installation only once the graphics were ready. That became the CRD Wraps strategy for this commercial fleet wrap in Palm Beach County.

Do as much work as possible before asking for the truck.

01 Step One · Measure the Actual Truck

Start With the Vehicle, Not an Assumption

CRD Wraps met the owner on the same day NXT Move took possession of the new truck. The purpose wasn’t simply to look at it. CRD Wraps photographed and measured the actual box body, so the artwork could be built around the truck NXT Move had bought rather than relying on a generic vehicle template.

Those dimensions gave CRD Wraps the foundation for a production layout built around the vehicle’s real doors, hardware, rivet lines and body construction. On a truck with this much printable surface area, a small error at the design stage becomes a large error by the time it reaches the vehicle.

Measure first. Produce second.

Over-Cab Bulkhead96″ W × 36″ HOtherwise-overlooked space, used to reinforce the identity from the front and from elevated angles.
02 Step Two · Preserve the Brand Instead of Redesigning It

The Client Didn’t Need a New Identity

NXT Move arrived prepared. The company supplied vector design elements, existing creative direction and a brand guide that established the visual system CRD Wraps needed to maintain. The objective was not to reinterpret NXT Move. It was to make the new truck unmistakably part of the existing brand.

CRD Wraps recreated and adapted the supplied elements around the dimensions of the 26-foot body. The dark navy background establishes a large field of color. White, blue and orange geometric elements create movement across the box. The NXT Move shield occupies major visual real estate toward the rear of each side, while the center of the vehicle carries the phone number, website and primary services. A QR code adds another response option when the truck is stationary.

From a distance, the design answers the important questions quickly:

  • Who is this? NXT Move.
  • What do they do? Moving & Storage.
  • How do I reach them? The phone number and website are given clear visual priority.

The goal wasn’t to fill 26 feet of truck with information. It was to use 26 feet of truck intelligently.

03 Step Three · Finish the Design Before Asking for the Vehicle

Keep the Truck Available While the Wrap Is Being Built

Within roughly two days of measuring the vehicle, CRD Wraps supplied the first proof. After minor adjustments, NXT Move approved the design on approximately the third day, and the project moved straight into print and manufacturing — another two days or so.

Most importantly, the truck did not need to sit at CRD Wraps during any of that work. Measurements had already been taken. The design was being completed digitally. The graphics were being printed and laminated. The installation team could prepare for the vehicle before it arrived.

Only after the complete wrap was manufactured did CRD Wraps schedule the truck for installation. For a revenue-producing commercial vehicle, the project timeline and the vehicle downtime do not have to be the same thing.

04 The Installation Challenge

The Truck Was Too Large for the Installation Bay

The size of the truck created the most obvious production challenge. It could not make the turn required to manoeuvre into the CRD Wraps shop — and even if it had, the truck was approximately six feet longer than the available indoor installation space.

So CRD Wraps adjusted the installation plan around the vehicle instead of treating its size as a reason to delay the project. The installation was staged outside the facility. A third installer was brought in specifically to increase capacity and keep the project moving. Mobile scaffolding provided access to the full height of the moving body and the over-cab section.

The objective stayed the same: two installation days, clean execution, and no shortcuts because the truck was large.

05 Pre-Paneling Before Installation

The Fastest Installation Starts Before the Truck Arrives

A 26-foot box side isn’t installed from one enormous piece of vinyl. The graphics have to be divided into manageable panels. On this project, CRD Wraps pre-paneled sections of the wrap before NXT Move delivered the vehicle, which served two purposes.

  • Faster installation. Installers weren’t spending vehicle-down days organizing and preparing every graphic section from scratch. That production work was already done.
  • Accurate registration. The geometric graphics, logos and supporting elements had to continue correctly from one printed section to the next. Pre-paneling allowed CRD Wraps to hold registration across adjoining graphics before and during installation.

On a dark navy design with sharp white, blue and orange geometry, registration errors would have been immediately visible. Preparation is what reduced that risk.

What a quote usually describes

“Two days to install a box truck.”

ACTUALLY

What made two days possible

“Measured, designed, printed, laminated and paneled before the truck ever arrived.”

Controlled heat and a roller, rivet by rivet — the detail that separates a wrapped box truck from a good one
06 The Rivet Problem

A Box Truck Isn’t a Giant Flat Wall

At a distance, a moving box looks like a simple rectangular surface. Up close, it isn’t. This truck carries extensive rows of rivets, panel seams, cargo doors, hinges, latches, trim and structural hardware, and every one of those features affects installation.

Wrapping straight over rivets without properly forming the cast vinyl around them leaves air pockets, tenting or an unfinished appearance. The installation photos from this project show CRD Wraps installers using controlled heat and the appropriate tools to work the film individually around the riveted surface.

As 3M Preferred Installers with prior large box-truck experience, CRD Wraps had the tools and the installation knowledge to work these surfaces and to remove hardware where appropriate for a cleaner finished result. Scale magnifies mistakes. It also magnifies good installation.

07 Two Days of Installation

Three Installers. One Prepared Truck Wrap.

Once the completed graphics and the installation team were ready, NXT Move delivered the truck. CRD Wraps completed the installation in approximately two days with three installers, and the client returned to collect the finished truck the following day.

The full project included measurement, design, revisions, approval, printing, lamination, panel preparation and installation. But CRD Wraps did not need possession of the truck for that entire sequence.

By completing design and manufacturing in advance, the customer’s vehicle only had to be at the facility when the physical work actually required it. For a commercial vehicle, that is the difference between project turnaround and operational downtime.

Before and After

From Blank Equipment to Branded Asset

Before installation, the truck was exactly what a brand-new commercial box truck looks like: large, white, anonymous. After installation, the same surface communicates NXT Move from multiple viewing angles — sides, rear and the over-cab bulkhead. The truck didn’t need to become busier. It needed to become recognizable.

08 · The Result

A New Truck That Started Advertising Almost Immediately

The sides carry the logo, contact information, website, services and QR code. The rear is treated as a separate high-value advertising surface for the drivers most likely to spend time looking at it. The over-cab bulkhead uses otherwise-overlooked space to reinforce the NXT Move identity from the front and from elevated angles.

Don’t measure commercial wrap turnaround by how long the vehicle sits at the shop.

NXT Move praised the efficiency and professionalism of the process, and told CRD Wraps it intends to use CRD Wraps for future wrap needs. Efficiency and project management were two of the reasons NXT Move came to CRD Wraps in the first place.

The Business Lesson

Five Things That Keep a Large Vehicle Off the Road for Less Time

None of these are specific to moving companies, or to 26-foot box trucks. They apply to any operator buying a commercial vehicle that has to earn while it is being branded.

1. Measure the actual vehicle

Generic templates are a starting point, not a production file. Verified measurements and photographs of the real body prevent expensive errors at full scale.

2. Separate project time from downtime

Measuring, proofing, approval, printing, lamination and paneling do not require the truck. Only the installation does.

3. Bring existing brand assets

Vector artwork and a brand guide remove a whole design phase. The job becomes adapting a known identity, not inventing one.

4. Check access before scheduling

Turning geometry, bay length and ceiling height decide whether a vehicle can be wrapped indoors. Better to plan for it than discover it on drop-off day.

5. Treat rivets as a technique, not a surcharge

Riveted aluminum bodies need cast film, controlled heat and hardware removal where appropriate. That is what keeps the finish clean at scale.

Box Truck Wrap FAQ

How long does it take to wrap a 26-foot box truck?

The installation portion of this NXT Move project took approximately two days with three installers. Measurement, design approval, printing, lamination and panel preparation were completed before the truck was dropped off, which reduced the amount of time the vehicle had to remain unavailable.

Can CRD Wraps wrap a box truck with hundreds of rivets?

Yes. Riveted aluminum box bodies require additional installation technique, because the film has to be properly formed around individual rivets and seams. This NXT Move truck was wrapped using premium cast film, controlled heat and installation techniques suited to riveted commercial bodies.

What happens if a box truck is too large to fit inside the wrap shop?

CRD Wraps evaluates vehicle dimensions, access and installation requirements before scheduling. The NXT Move truck could not manoeuvre into the installation bay and was approximately six feet too long for the available indoor space, so CRD Wraps planned the installation outside, added a third installer and used appropriate access equipment to complete the project efficiently.

Can CRD Wraps use my existing company branding instead of redesigning it?

Yes. NXT Move supplied vector brand assets and an established design direction. CRD Wraps used those assets to recreate and adapt the branding for the actual dimensions and hardware of the new 26-foot truck.

Do you need to measure a brand-new box truck before designing the wrap?

For custom commercial bodies, CRD Wraps strongly prefers verified measurements and photographs of the actual vehicle. The NXT Move truck was measured on the day the client took possession, so the design and production files could be created around the real box dimensions.

Can the wrap be produced before I drop off my commercial truck?

Yes, when accurate measurements, artwork and approvals are available. For NXT Move, the graphics were printed, laminated and prepared before the vehicle arrived, so the truck was only needed for the actual installation.
